April 17th, 2006/Richmond, CA. - The Hankook U.S. Touring Car Championship (USTCC) announced today the addition of the Super Street/Euro Tuner Time Attack on October 7-8 at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California to the 2006 Hankook USTCC Championship schedule. This will be the tenth of thirteen rounds of USTCC race action. The date replaces the cancelled Mexicali GP Street Race in Mexicali, Mexico that was originally set for April 1-2 on the 2006 championship schedule.
“Originally, Infineon was not even on the schedule this season and we had Mexicali GP Street Race in Mexicali, Mexico. But due to some course and safety issues the event didn’t go through and it was just unfortunate. The series worked around the clock to get the October 7-8 date which runs along with Super Street/Euro Tuner Time Attack event at Infineon Raceway. The series is excited to take part with the event and it should be a great race weekend where there will be plenty of car and tuner enthusiasts alike. It is exactly what the series’ demographic targets. USTCC Series Director Ali Arsham said.
With the addition of October 7-8 Infineon Raceway date to the 2006 Hankook USTCC Schedule, it will mark the seventh straight season that the series will return and race on the world famous race track located in the hearth of the famous Napa Valley wine country in Northern California. The U.S. Touring Car Championship’s roots can be traced back to Infineon Raceway (formerly known as Sears Point).
