Rockford, IL ( April 26, 2006 ) Team AAM takes 2nd Place in US Touring Car Championship (USTCC) at Mid Ohio. Driver Wade Powell battled with veteran USTCC driver Jeff Mishtawy, veteran World Challenge driver Dino Hamilton, and USTCC newcomer and SCCA National Champion Toby Grahovek throughout the weekend to finish on the podium with a 2nd place finish as well as Top Rookie finisher in his professional racing debut. This finish also put BMW into First Place in Manufacturer Points.
"We were a bit slow off the trailer, both with a new car and being new to the track, but through the team's hard work through the weekend we managed to start putting times in that were with the leaders of the pack" said Powell.
"I had a great start, passing the Audi on the standing start, and held my position well for several laps right on the tail of the leaders, but I got held up by lapped traffic, and went wide in a corner causing damage to our front splitter. That killed my front downforce through the rest of the race and left us a little off the pace. We got some help later in the race when a couple cars got together in front of us, that allowed us to advance a couple of positions." Said Powell after the race.
Team AAM would like to thank our sponsors who make this all possible. Sponsors include evosport, Bimmerworld, Diffsonline, SVL Productions, and Above All Motorwerks
