Napa, CA -- Josh Nauman of team MBO Motorsports won the prestigious Miller Welders Crew Chief of the Year award for the Nitto Tires United States Touring Car Championship. Nauman was awarded a brand new Millermatic® 140 Auto-Set™ welder for his efforts.
Nauman was nominated by many of his competitors, as well as his team manager and driver. He received the most votes due to his winning attitude and hunger to win. MBO Motorsports Team driver Pete Bovenberg said, “His actions show that he is always more than willing to rise to any situation that occurs. The racing season has thrown much adversity at our team this year and there have been many moments this year where he was asked to replace engines or transmissions in the field in order to help secure points for the MBO Motorsports team.”
Two races in the 2011 season were huge tests for the MBO Motorsports team. In April at Thunderhill, the team’s Honda Civic exploded its engine and caught fire. The team, overseen by Nauman, replaced the engine and fixed the fire damage with only minutes to go before the start of the race. At the November Infineon round, the Honda again suffered a blown engine and this time there was not enough time to replace the engine. Nauman instead started working on the backup car and had to replace the transmission to get it ready for the race. The car made the race. Nauman hopes that 2012 will be less hectic, but says he is ready to do what it takes to secure another championship for the team.
