Penalties Assessed for 3 Drivers After Round 5 at the WTCC Weekend

Napa, CA -- After some collisions during the round of the Nitto Tires United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) race, harsh penalties have been handed out. Gary Trudeau, Race Director, has announced the following penalties:

Tony Mak is required to volunteer for two race weekends for jumping the start of Sunday’s race and contact with the number 33 of Ali Arsham and the number 91 of RJ Reeves. Tony’s driving privileges will be suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season.

Curt Simmons is on probation for the remainder of the 2013 season and the first half of 2014 (Races 1 through 3) for body contact and over-aggressive driving. Should there be any other body contacts, no matter who was at fault, during the probation period additional penalties will be assessed.

Doug Makishima is suspended for the remainder of the 2013 season and on probation for the first half (Races 1 through 3) of 2014 season for causing a collision and over-aggressive driving. Should there be any other body contacts, no matter who was at fault, during the probation period additional penalties will be assessed.
