April 04, 2005 / C&R Promotions / The April 2-3 round of the Hankook Tire United States Touring Car Championship has been rescheduled due to an unexpected 7" of snow that fell on the Mid-Ohio circuit April 2. The Mid-Ohio facilities crew worked hard to get the track clear on Sunday, but could not get the course safely cleared in time to race. As result of the weather, the USTCC race will now be held at the Putnam Park Road Course on May 21-22.
While some of the Hankook USTCC racers were disappointed with the snow and packed up to get back to their shops, others stuck around for the weekend and were quite happy to have a little more development time for their cars as the track was cleared enough late Sunday to permit limited running. Although the track was barely race-able the data collected and test time for all the new parts and modifications for the 2005 season will go far in helping the teams get the most of their new Hankook Ventus tires. "I was very impressed the level of grip and immediate, precise turn-in" said Jeff Mishtawy (Motorkars Audi A4). "We basically have a new car for 2005 so this test time has helped our crew chief Matt Markowicz and our team members get the car tuned in to the higher grip levels of these Hankook tires."
The next round of the Hankook Tires United States Touring Car Championship will be held at the famous Road America circuit April 8-10. Long-term weather models are already showing more spring-like mild temperatures in store and the USTCC racers will be there to finally get racing!
