April 13, 2005: C&R Promotions - Nearly 200,000 people descended on Long Beach California to take part in what has become the "gem of the west," the 31st annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach where the marquee event was the Bridgestone Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford. The Hankook United States Touring Cars and Red 5 Racing were on hand showcasing two vehicles in support of the USTCC’s upcoming role as a support race for the San Jose Grand Prix.
Red 5 Racing took part in the weekend’s madness at The Pike Car Show, displaying two current Hankook United States Touring Car Championship competition vehicles. Featured were the Ford Contour SVT driven by Robert Porter, and the Toyota Celica driven by Ken Jeffries and Charlie Frank.
"The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is an awesome event and we all get a chance to see and re-connect with some great friends," states Charlie Frank, "and, it’s the perfect market / demographic to showcase our team partners and promote the USTCC."
Ironclads Josh Worley was on the scene, soaking in the local culture. "We are excited to see the USTCC promotions crew pushing hard to spread the good news of the series. In doing so, they are also providing fantastic marketing opportunities for series sponsors and affiliates." Leo Now from Weapon*R also supported the display with two choice Tsukuba competition seats and components and everyone was very grateful for the hats, stickers and t-shirts that were passed out to the crowd.
The Hankook United States Touring Car Championship series consists of 14 professional championship races across the country. The USTCC competes next at Phoenix International Raceway May 21-22, 2005. From there, competitors look forward to blasting through the streets in support of the Bridgestone Champ Car World Series Powered by Ford at the San Jose Grand Prix July 29-31.
