April 20, 2005 / C&R Promotions / After the snowy reception that the Hankook United States Touring Car Championship drivers received the previous week at Mid-Ohio, the 60 degree temperatures must have felt down right balmy.
The sun was also shining on Dan Brabec in the Wolf Racing sponsored Ford SHO, Dan finished first in the opening round of the Eastern Division NASA USTCC on the historic track. "We were looking forward to this race to challenge the Motorkars Audi driven by Jeff Mishtawy who had been dominant in last years East Coast USTCC competition," said a happy Dan Brabec after the race. And, challenge he did, Dan’s Ford was dominating all weekend long. Wolf Racing’s crew chief Phil Brabec said, "We hoped the long straights and open nature of Road America’s 4 mile course would favor the larger, heavier but more powerful SHO over the more compact Audi". The track fit right into the Fords strength
On the opposite side of the equation was Jeff Mishtawy; his weekend was a laundry list of problems that plagued the Motorkars Audi. " I really have to thank my crew for all of the long hours they put in this weekend and for keeping the car together as best as possible," said a frustrated Jeff. "And, I especially want to thank Mike Theis and crew chief Matt Markowicz."
The next round of the Hankook United States Touring Car Championship will be at Phoenix International Raceway May 21st -22nd.
