Alliegro With a Strong Comeback at Buttonwillow
Alliegro Exceeds All Expectations with a Maiden Win in USTCC.
Napa, CA– August 8, 2020 – AR-G Motorsports announces Chris Alliegro, Driver of the #18 Mustang takes a 2nd and a 1st place at the double header event in Buttonwillow. With relentless training and development between race weekends, Alliegro has turned his hard work into raw speed on track with two pole positions in class and a fastest lap of the race on Saturday. The team of Alliegro and Lau is now only 5 points behind championship leader heading into the final round at Sonoma keeping the championship open.
Qualifying
Alliegro showed pace in Saturday qualifying and laid down a strong lap early on which set him up for pole position.
Sunday qualifying on the unfamiliar track configuration did not faze Alliegro either as he puts the #18 FP350S on pole for the GT class again.
Race
Alliegro lost out early in Saturday’s race but clawed back seconds to close in on the leader while setting the fastest lap of the race. The strong showing was a win in itself despite finishing 2nd.
Sunday's race was all about managing the car in the heat and fuel conservation for Alliegro. The car crossed the line on fumes but nonetheless a maiden victory for Alliegro and keeping the championship open into the final round of the season.
