Arsham finishes fourth in thrilling battle at Thunderhill
Willows, CA – Ali Arsham, driving the GoGoGear.com/Konig Wheels Hyundai Genesis Coupe finished fourth in the United States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) round 1 at Thunderhill Raceway on April 14, 2024.
Arsham did not have it easy and had to skip a wet qualifying. “We had a set of rain tires get stolen from our storage trailer so I chose to sit out the session and start from the back of the field. It was not a great feeling but I wanted to make sure that our clients were taken care of and in the end it was great to see them battle for pole position,” said Arsham after qualifying.
At the start of the race, the entire row just ahead had a much slower reaction time and cause dArsham some delay. After finally getting away he worked his way up and was up to third place when a full course yellow came out. At the restart, traffic once again played a major role and caused Andy Chittum, driving the other Hyundai Genesis to get a jump. Arsham had two laps to get by Chittum but there was no opportunity for a pass.
At the end, a fourth place was a good way to start the season considering that Arsham started in 9th place. “It was a weird weekend and we had zero practice time in the #33 Hyundai. I was actually very impressed with our baseline setup that we prepared at the shop before arriving at the track. Thanks to Reza for making a solid recommendation on the right tires to choose for the race. The car was a blast to drive and we should be much stronger at the next race,” commented Arsham.
