MC Racing Launches from Pole to Take First Win

June 08, 2024 (Buttonwillow, CA) – Michael McColligan rocketed from pole position to take his first win
in round 3 of the Hankook United States Touring Car Championship at Buttonwillow Raceway Park.

After suspension damage towards the end of round 2, MC Racing faced a challenge to get the car
repaired in two weeks to be ready for round 3. Fortunately, with some help from KTuned and some
extraordinary efforts from GOGOGEAR Racing, the car was ready to go at opening practice at
Buttonwillow Raceway. MC Racing team driver Michael McColligan jumped in and immediately felt
comfortable, setting impressive practice times. “The car setup was spot-on and I had confidence and
was able to push from the opening laps”, stated McColligan. He absolutely nailed his qualifying lap,
when the tires and brakes were at their best to claim pole position. At the drop of the green flag,
McColligan got a great launch and was able to get on the racing line heading into turn 1 in the lead. Just
before turning-in, he spotted the second place BMW making a late move down the inside. Sensing a
potential squeeze, he backed off and gave a bit of space. The BMW missed their braking point and shot
across the track and into the dirt, allowing McColligan to slot in behind and emerge in the lead. The
chaos provided a bit of a gap to the rest of the Sportsman field. Once in the lead, McColligan drove solid
and consistent laps while managing his temperatures and brakes to bring home the first win for MC
Racing in the USTCC. “We have been working at this for a while and it feels so special to stand on the
top step of the podium. The switch to the Honda Civic platform has given us spark and we know there is
so much more to come from this platform. I can’t thank GOGOGEAR Racing and all our partners
enough!”, smiled a champagne-soaked McColligan. MC Racing knows that there is never time to rest in
racing and has development plans to stay ahead of the field and keep the points lead into round 4.

MC Racing competes in the Hankook Tires United States Touring Car Championship aboard a Mazda RX8
